Shane Gibson, popularly known as "Rizon," who is a disciple in the Port of Spain Church of Christ in Trinidad, was recently invited to attend the Caribbean Gospel Music Marlin Awards, held every summer in the Bahamas. The vision of the Marlin Awards is to inspire and encourage excellence and growth in Caribbean Gospel Music. Each year, there are countless submissions from all over the world - not just the Caribbean - and awards are distributed in over Fifty (50) categories including New Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year.
Rizon received four nominations for the work he has done over the past few years. Many disciples who attended the World Discipleship Summit in San Antonio may remember him song leading during the opening ceremony, and also performing at the singles events.
We are happy to announce that Rizon was blessed by God to win two awards! His heart-pounding track “No Entry” won the "Best Music Video of the Year” Award, and he also walked away with the “Dance Recording of the Year” Award for his inspired dance number “Higher Level”! Nominations and winners are selected by a panel of industry professionals.
Shane is a hard-working and committed disciple, and dedicated to using his craft to inspire others to serve God. So far this year he has performed tirelessly throughout Trinidad and the rest of the Caribbean, including a tour that had him performing in St Kitts, St. Marten, Anguilla and Jamaica. The Marlin wins were a fitting gift as he returned to Trinidad in time to celebrate with his wife Susan, their eighth wedding anniversary earlier this month! Congratulations to Shane for this outstanding achievement!

Disciples in Europe (London, Burmingham and Leeds) can catch Rizon and several other Caribbean gospel artists performing live during their upcoming European tour in October. Click here for more >
