Caribbean Missions Update: Grenada July 2014 Featured

Friday, 04 July 2014 00:39
We praise God for the continued growth of the St. George’s International Church of Christ in Grenada! In our last three months (April to June), we have celebrated increased unity and devotion to God our Father – and He has provided us with immense joy as we delight in additional growth, having helped three more disciples to be added to our number over this quarter, to His honor and glory!

Grenada Update 1

Church Builders Workshop

After returning from an inspiring weekend with the other Caribbean leaders in the Dominican Republic in May, Richard & Romania were inspired to “build” God’s church His way, and started a series of Church Builders Workshops with key disciples. These disciples are being given the charge – and supplied with the tools – to lay a solid foundation for a sustainable, growing fellowship.

With a specific theme each month, we had identified Prayer, Family, and Faith & Fun as the focal points for building. Here are a few highlights of our second quarter 2014:

April was “Prayer Month”: At the end of the last quarter, we asked for your prayers – and so, as we headed into the Easter holidays, we fasted and prayed together, for our special “Chariot Ride” and BYND over the Easter weekend. And how God answered all your prayers! We headed down to the beach shedding tears of joy on Good Friday afternoon, to witness Stacy Pitt becoming our sister in Christ! Stacey is a MD, and is married to her childhood sweetheart Omar. They also have a five-year-old Nathan. We have grown to love them dearly, and continue to reach out to Omar, and spend lots of time with their family.

May was “Family Month”: and as we continued to focus on family, we held our special Mother’s Day service! In May, we were also privileged to begin our monthly New Converts Classes to help our young converts get grounded in the faith, as well as using the “Cross Bearers” series in mentoring times. One extra-special feature in May, we had the opportunity to “Skype In” during our worship service to fellowship with the church in South Carolina! It is truly wonderful to see our new Christians taking baby steps in the faith, and experiencing connecting to other disciples!

June was dubbed “Faith & Fun”: Married couples danced together, we held our first Singles Devotional, focused our hearts on learning to worship God at our “Evening till Mid-night” Prayer Devo. Some of us even took on the personal challenge of physical fitness with a month-long “Abs Challenge” and “Tae-bo Thursdays!

It was truly a month of fun and faith, and building family! Two singles sisters on vacation from East London, came to visit – and just in time to join us for our Outdoor Beach Sunday Service, when Kishon was baptized – closely followed in that same week by Moses (read about Moses inspiring conversion here)! The Singles Ministry is booming, and the young brothers are such a joy and encouragement!

“Many Expression of Thanks!”

“There is no need for me to write to you about this service to the saints. For I know your eagerness to help, and I have been boasting about it... This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people, but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.” -- 2 Corinthians 9: 1-2, 12

It is a truly remarkable as we experience the unabated outpouring of love, prayers and financial support from so many brothers and sisters, and various churches around the world! We are indeed inspired by God, by our worldwide fellowship, and by your giving.

There are too many persons to name, but we shout a big THANK YOU to the disciples in such diverse places like South Carolina, Virginia, New York, Miami, Atlanta, London, Ukraine, Chicago, Kazakhstan, Los Angeles, and more, and our beloved fellow Caribbean disciples in Trinidad, Jamaica, DR, St Vincent, Barbados, Haiti, the Bahamas, St Thomas, St Kitts, Tortola, Guyana and Suriname!

Please know that every time you pray, every Skype Call, email or “like” on our Facebook page, every resource you share, and every dollar you give or send... it strengthens us, encourages us, feeds us, and continues to impact the hearts and lives of so many men, women and families. For the 16 disciples in Grenada - our hearts truly overflow with thanksgiving! “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” -- 2 Corinthians 9:15.
