Praying for Florida Disciples and Their Communities

Currently disciples across Florida are preparing for the worst from Hurricane Irma which is nearly the size of Texas. At the moment Irma is bearing down on the Southwest Church in Ft. Myers/Naples area, then the Sarasota church, then the Tampa Church. The Gainesville Church, the 1200 Church in Tallahassee, Crossway in Tallahassee, South Lake and the Orlando Church should all feel the effects of rain and tropical force winds. The South Florida Church is also experience rain and tropical force winds with gusts up to 100 mph. Needless to say the vast majority of our churches will feel it and three are currently in the direct path. And this could all change with the unpredictable nature of these storms.

Hurricane Harvey: 'A Storm That the United States Has Not Seen Yet'

"This disaster is going to be a landmark event." That's how the head of FEMA described the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. "This is a storm that the United States has not seen yet," he added.

I’ve lived in Houston for a total of nine years, and have witnessed many incredible storms, hurricanes, and even tornadoes, but nothing close to Hurricane Harvey. The destruction will be as nothing seen before in the U.S.

Indianapolis Church Travels to the "Land of Enough"

A few years ago, Joel Nagel produced the short devotional book Passport to the Land of Enough, a powerful call to a life of simplicity and generosity. Inspired by Joel’s insights, Dave Eastman took the core material, traveled to Europe, and produced a European edition of the book. The European edition introduces our churches to some of our European heroes and churches, calls first-world disciples to a deeper understanding of the challenges facing the European mission, and inspires growth toward that same kind of streamlined living and sacrificial giving.

Team Conor: Inspired by Conor's Sermon on Suffering

After the Reach2016 Conference, Conor McCormick suffered a crippling swimming pool accident which left him a quadriplegic. He has spent the past year fighting for his life. This journey has had its ups and downs, good days and bad days, as well as continued recovery progress.

Recently, at the Pioneer Valley Church's teen-led service, Conor served the congregation by preaching an inspiring lesson on suffering. We wanted to share that with you!

The Impact of Passport

It's been a month since Passport to the Land of Enough swept through our New England family of churches, leaving a swath of Christian simplicity in its wake. Passport to the Land of Enough is a 30-day devotional book about Christian simplicity and mission calling each reader to action.

All over the Boston Church of Christ, stories abound of brothers and sisters taking on the mission challenges.
