Can you imagine what it would be like hanging out with heroes of faith listed in the Bible? The apostles, Barnabas, Lydia, and then the evangelism, encouragement, and fellowship that would follow?!
Memorial Day Weekend at the SRQ House Church was like that with the SURGE group (Singles United Representing God Everywhere)! On Saturday we started the day with prayer, then evangelized in downtown Sarasota. Disciples stood in the hot sun for hours sharing their faith. Next it was on to Grammy’s House, a local foster home to spruce it up with some TLC. A house was cleaned and hearts were lifted!
Jody Jester from Bridge a Life helped coordinate the event. She posted this to their Facebook page afterwards: “...[the disciples] did a fantastic job at one of our local foster homes today, cleaning, organizing, fixing, and singing (so bummed we missed getting the singing on video!)...”
The foster parents at Grammy’s House were grateful as well! Here is some of what they had to say:Matt and I (and the kids!) wanted to thank you all so much for all the hard work you did last Saturday here at our house! We really can't thank you enough for what you did. It's so hard to keep up with everything with the high volume and turnover of kids and also to get the funding to do projects around here, it's such a relief to have wonderful people to volunteer their time and effort to help out!! Everything looks amazing from the pressure washed house to the painted doors and organized closets and cleaned rooms!! May God bless you all for thinking of us and our family!! Also everyone was just so friendly and sweet and it was all around just wonderful to have you all here! Thanks again!!!! – Matt and Kelsey Ballard and kids
