Abidjan Church Serves Nearly 1,000 in First West African HOPEww Medical Brigade

On September 10, 2016 my husband and I, along with doctors, nurses, pharmacists and volunteers from the Abidjan Church of Christ in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, walked onto the church property at 7:15 in the morning and were greeted by hundreds of disciples eager to be seen by a doctor. Some had spent the night in the church building, wanting to be sure that they would be able to meet with a physician about their concerns.

HOPEww Africa: From Surviving To Thriving

Diepsloot is one the poorest settlements in South Africa with a population of 138,000 living in an area of approximately 7.5 square miles. Many families live in small 7′ x 10′ shanties constructed of scrap metal, plastic, wood or cardboard. The community is plagued with violence, substance abuse, unemployment and inadequate educational opportunities. These conditions threaten the development of South Africa’s most precious resource – the children.

Turning Swords Into Plowshares

Ivory Coast Update from HOPE worldwide

They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.
” - Isaiah 2.

April 5, 2012 - In Abidjan, the sounds of music, dancing and football along with the bustle of people back at work has replaced the noise of gunfire and mortars exploding during last year's civil war. Everywhere you look people are on the street. It’s so exciting to see the city come back to life after the war when over 3,000 people were killed.

World AIDS Day 2011

Many people around the world lack the legal documentation most of us take for granted - from an identity document, to a passport, to even a birth certificate.

For those who live hand to mouth, merely getting to the relevant government department to apply for these items can be a challenge. Not having this documentation can often limit their changes of obtaining work or social grants to which they may be entitled. It's a vicious cycle.
