Funding Cuts leave 30,000 Orphans in Peril
Drs. Mark Ottenweller and Marc Aguirre of HOPE worldwide have been helping 30,000 orphans in 6 nations in Sub Saharan Africa through various programs. Sadly, their projects lost funding last year, and they have been scrambling to generate new grants for the orphans before their own salaries run out and they are forced to look for other jobs.

Dr. Mark Ottenweller's trip through Africa continues, and so does his blog.
His latest blog is about the immense amount of damage that AIDS has caused in Namibia. Over 10% of the population there is living with AIDS and there are over 66,000 AIDS orphans in just this one country.

Dr. Mark Ottenweller is returning to Africa to train the new staff, reconnect with the volunteers there and help once again in the fight against AIDS in Africa.

Each day became more difficult for my son and me. After my son’s father died in 2003, I then lost my job and became unemployed for two years. During this time we received lots of spiritual and emotional encouragement from the disciples here in Kenya, but I kept praying for God to open a way for me to get a job. He answered my prayers in July 2006. It was then I joined HOPE worldwide – Kenya as an administrative assistant.
