Burundi Church Appeals for Worldwide Prayer

Burundi is a small beautiful country in central Africa. It is known as the land with a thousand and one hills. Since April 19, 2015, Burundi has been experiencing political unrest due to the incumbent president Pierre Nkurunziza's decision to seek for a third term in office that is seen to be against the peace agreement signed in 2005 which put an end to a civil war that lasted 12 years.

Youth and Family Deacons Appointed in East Africa

“Be … willing, … eager to serve; examples to the flock.” 1 Peter 5:2,3

It was a great moment for the church in Nairobi, Kenya when Edward and Anyima Okundi were recently appointed Deacon of Youth and Family within the East Africa family of the International Churches of Christ, which is appropriate because of their youthfulness and their dynamic family. They will oversee the Youth and Family Ministry in the church in Nairobi and help in the congregations across East Africa.

Cheers for Children Chess Champions in Nairobi Church

Three kingdom kids from Kenya recently qualified to represent the country at the World Youth Chess championships to be held in Slovenia in November this year.

Gilliane Otieno, Raisa Wanjiku and Maxwell Wambua from the Nairobi church achieved this distinction after a competitive and challenging two-day chess tournament held in Nairobi. And they received a standing ovation from the Nairobi church as they were recognized and awarded gifts and trophies one Sunday for their stellar achievement.

Kenya Evangelist Needs Brain Surgery – and Your Prayers

Charles Omollo, one of the ministers in the church in Nairobi, Kenya, was recently diagnosed with having a pituitary macroadenoma, an abnormal growth in the brain, which requires urgent surgery in order to address the imminent risk to his health. Surgery was conducted in Kenya but was unsuccessful, so Charles will now be traveling to India for a second attempt at the procedure.

The Nairobi church in the Kenyan capital Nairobi celebrated an exciting and emotional milestone last year when it fulfilled a long cherished dream and started meeting on its own property. Now the Nairobi church is holding a fundraiser in order to finish the project. One of the key aims is to complete the classrooms and bathrooms for the church’s 950 children, to ensure that not only is their Sunday experience solidly spiritual but that their Sunday environment is safe, secure, spacious and sanitary. Nothing fancy, just healthy.
