Power of Prayer and the Fruit of Fasting: Good News From Burundi

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:58)

The end of last year was a busy time for the leaders of the church in Bujumbura, the capital city of the eastern African nation of Burundi. Anticipating a great following year, it was a time of planning and this kicked off with the launch of our strategic plan. This exercise was overseen by Nairobi-based Evangelist George Irungu and his wife Ann, who oversee our church.

A New Hope and Future - God provided through HOPE worldwide

Each day became more difficult for my son and me. After my son’s father died in 2003, I then lost my job and became unemployed for two years. During this time we received lots of spiritual and emotional encouragement from the disciples here in Kenya, but I kept praying for God to open a way for me to get a job. He answered my prayers in July 2006. It was then I joined HOPE worldwide – Kenya as an administrative assistant.

Kenya Video Game Teaches HIV/AIDS Prevention

HOPE worldwide Kenya's Center of HOPE Mukuru is packed with 35-50 teenagers everyday. They're not there for lectures or classes - they come for a video game.

"Pamoja Mtaani", Swahili for "Together in the Hood," is a video game developed by Warner Bros Entertainment in partnership with the US President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) that puts players in real situations where they have to avoid risks of HIV infection.

Ordination Celebration in Nairobi, Kenya

The normally cold July Nairobi weather could not dampen the enthusiasm and excitement of the church as two special brothers were appointed Evangelists and their wives Women’s Ministry Leaders. The church was greatly encouraged by the ordination of Elias and Margaret Akech (left) as well as Samson and Judy Monda.
