More than 1400 people (including children) were in attendance as “According to Your Faith,” the 2015 Caribbean Conference held in Kingston, Jamaica, wrapped up with a spiritually invigorating Sunday service.
Close to 700 disciples from 13 Caribbean countries, the US, Canada, and Great Britain gathered in Jamaica’s capital for the three-day event. Disciples in the city of Kingston and the neighboring urban center, St. Catherine, opened their homes to provide accommodation for 120 Christians visiting from abroad.
In addition to the hundreds in attendance, close to 400 people in overseas locations including Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, and the United Kingdom, participated in the conference via live stream.
The agenda included biblical teaching, praise and worship and practical instruction on numerous issues including the mission field, marriage and family, charity and benevolence as well as the current hotbed topic of dealing righteously with same-sex attraction.
While the overwhelming theme was the absolute necessity of faith, the event also highlighted the need for renewal as disciples were challenged to move beyond the past and believe that God can work miracles in our churches and our individual lives.
This truth was underscored repeatedly in the powerful Sunday sermon delivered by the evangelist of the New York City Church of Christ, Sam Powell. His stirring message challenged and encouraged each individual to recommit to their personal relationship with God and be open to the Lord achieving his purpose, even if it means spiritual challenges and personal changes. The sermon also provided a timely reminder that the God we serve can still move mountains, but it will be done “According to Our Faith.”
