The Christmas HYC in Chennai, India was a tremendous success! The HYC team members spent most of their time at the Pudupattinam Center of Hope. This is one of HOPE foundation’s three tsunami rehabilitation centers. On Christmas Day we served at the Arias Home of Hope for HIV+ women and children. We also spent a day at a leprosy colony. All these events were very inspiring and increased in emotional intensity as the HYC progressed.

028At the Center of Hope we taught children, painted murals, planted trees, built benches and made a cement walkway. There was a lot of physically hard work, which appealed to the boys and some of the girls. We also had daily devos in the morning and daily discipleship groups in the evening.

The highlight came on the final day of HYC when Kevin Kagoo, the son of Santhosh and Nalini Kagoo, who manage the Center of Hope, was baptized.

85 of the 120 participants went to the All India Campus Conference immediately following the HYC. Many had a chance to teach, share and lead singing. It was mutually edifying for the Indian disciples and the HYC participants.

Thank you to John and Karen Louis for their support of this program. Church support is so crucial to this kind of endeavor. The Singapore Church sent a large contingent. There were also participants from Indonesia and Malaysia along with leaders from those churches. We are grateful to all the churches, their leaders and our wonderful young people for making this year’s Christmas HYC such a success.
