Elders Service Team Year End Report

2011 has been a busy and productive year for our team. Larry Craig and Frank Kim added diverse experience and links to large portions of our worldwide fellowship through their home churches and mission work fields. This year an elder from the Hong Kong church will be invited to join our group and increase our international participation as more elders and elderships are beginning to be trained and appointed worldwide. Training is currently being pursued by churches in Europe, Mexico, Asia and the Ukraine in hopes of appointments within the next year. We solicit reports of new elder appointments and eldership establishment so we can be aware of how the Spirit is working!

Evangelists Service Team Report, Nov. 2011

The Evangelists Committee is encouraged by the continued progress that God is producing in our worldwide fellowship of churches. More souls are being saved and our geographic regions are getting stronger, healthier, and more functionally dynamic. The American churches just completed their first American Leadership Conference hosted by the Boston Church. The ALC was a tremendous success, addressing the growth needs of our churches through workshops broken down by size. Douglas Arthur and the entire Boston leadership are to be commended for this inspirational conference.

ICOC Evangelists Service Team Continues

Leadership Development Subcommittee has focused in two areas.

  1. Helping to promote the training of young people through the development of Mission Training Centers. The New England School of Ministry has been established and is currently training 20 young men and women who are in their 20's and working full time as ministry interns around New England. With the help of the Beam Mission Foundation BMF plans are being laid to establish or bolster similar programs around the world.
  2. Development of a unified Curriculum for the training of ministers in the ICOC. In collaboration with the Teachers group, plans are underway to develop a minimum series of courses that we be utilized across our brotherhood. Meeting with Gordon Ferguson, Douglas Jacoby, Steve Staten, and Valdur Koha as well as meeting with several in our subcommittee have laid a foundation which will allow us to map out a path over the next 18 months to establish this curriculum.

Elders Service Team Addresses Crucial Shepherding Issues

Our Committee enjoyed our final 2010 face to face meeting in conjunction with the International Leadership Conference in Miami in September. We were sobered by the news that our brother Jeff Balsom of Chicago was unable to attend because of his diagnosis of cancer. Fervent prayers continue on behalf of Jeff and his family for a complete recovery in keeping with God's will. Our prayers continue as a brotherhood for the Balsom family.

Youth & Family Service Team Report

The Youth and Family Service Team has served to advance healthy teen and familybased ministries in our churches. At its inception in 2006, the committee planned the first Youth and Family Conference in Boston in 2007. John Porter, evangelist in the South Florida Church of Christ, chaired the service team. He and its twelve members coordinated the Boston conference and the 2009 ICYFM (International Conference of Youth and Family Ministry) in Chicago, began a resource website at www.liveit2giveit.org, and worked with leaders from other service teams to facilitate healthy communication.
