African Leadership Group Meets in Ghana

Monday, 08 August 2011 08:29

The African Leadership Group got together in Accra, Ghana from July 19-22 for a time of teaching, fellowship and planning.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ" Ephesians 1:3

Former missionaries Dr Mark Ottenwheller, Herve Fleurant, Richard Alawaye and myself were able to attend also. Mike and Ann Brigitte Taliaferro were greatly missed. We were also joined by Tom Brown of the North River Church. Below is the the Ghana congregation.

Tom preached a passionate message to the leaders and took us down memory lane of his days in the Campus ministry and the passion he still feels about it. It was great to see leaders from the Southern, Eastern and West African Churches there. It was refreshing to see the second generation of leaders in Africa. The future of the African churches look great. They would continue to need our support, prayers and encouragement.

Personally, the most moving aspect of this gathering was seeing the Senior Leaders of the church in Abidjan. You can't help but be moved when you hear their stories that clearly showed a true test of faith that they were able to go through during the bloody civil war that ravaged their city. Their testimony of faith and perseverance during their days of gloom and pain, was an upward calling to every one of us. Here they are in the picture below...

They were visually moved by the outpouring of love by the International Churches of Christ. Their faith in God was reinforced by the unity that was shown by our worldwide fellowship.

Thank you brothers and sisters for responding in a very generous way to the call for help in Abidjan.

Please keep the work in Africa in your prayers.
