''...and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.'' - Matthew 16: 18

It was a fantastic inaugural service in Abeokuta on Sunday, May 30 as the ‘rocky city’ became the fourteenth Mission to be planted by the International Church Of Christ, Nigeria.

Abeokuta (a word meaning "under the rocks") the capital and largest city in Ogun State in southwest Nigeria, houses the popular tourist attraction, the Olumo Rock, which majestically overlooks the city.

The inaugural worship service of the Abeokuta Church attracted 260 in attendance, with over 150 adult visitors! Four baptisms had already been witnessed before the service and with lots of studies and a handful counting the cost, better days surely lay ahead for the Church.

The event also witnessed the presence of an Oba (Olowu of Owu) with his wife and daughter, along with an entourage of other chiefs.

Keep us in your prayers. We have a harvest of souls waiting here in Abeokuta.

At this time when much of the world's nations' focus on Africa is on the first FIFA World Cup to be staged on the continent, it is inspiring that the continent's saints remain focussed on salvation, not just soccer, and faith, not just football, as they continue to make disciples of all nations.
