Have you ever thought about what God has planned in your life? Well, if you are like me, you have thought and do think about it often. Do you often ask God in prayer what your future holds, or why God placed you where you are now? We all know what Jeremiah 29:11 states about God’s plan for us, “Plans to prosper us and not to harm us”. In the rest of my lesson, I have laid out how you can better understand God’s plan for you.
Be Open-Minded about God’s Plan for You
In order for God to start working in our lives, we have to be open minded and let God work in us and through us. If we are closed minded, how do we expect God to work? I have some friends in my church that were open to God’s plan for them. It started with Angela being open minded enough to start studying the bible. Her open mindedness was the start of God’s incredible plan for four other ladies. These five women were open to God’s plan for their lives, whether they realized it or not. These women were good examples of what Romans 12:2 says to do, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Pray about What Your Future Holds
How often do you pray about your future? You know, like where you will end up in 10 years or how successful you will be in your career. The Bible says in 1 John 5:14-15 that if “We ask anything according to God’s will that he hears us…and know that we have the requests we have asked of him.” We must be cautious about “heaping up empty phrases” when we pray. Instead pray to God with an open and honest heart about what you wish for your future. I pray sometimes for a husband and children one day, but I have to check my heart behind it. Do I simply want a husband and a family because the majority of my friends have families or do I want a family for Godly reasons? My answer, the majority of the time, is because of worldly reasons. I have to be secure in the knowledge that God will give me everything I need.
