great land christian church fairbanksDespite being a place renowned for its bone-chilling winters, the city of Fairbanks, Alaska is experiencing the true warmth of God’s love.

The Great Land Christian Church – Fairbanks, just planted in September 2015, has been working hard to reach people and help them to get to know God in new and exciting ways. And God has certainly blessed our efforts!

Starting with a mission team of 14 people, the church has been steadily growing. God has added seven disciples in the first seven months, and more currently studying the Bible! Two of the new disciples are “family of family,” which is exciting.  God added the twin sister of a disciple from Anchorage, Alaska, as well as the mother of a disciple from Texas. More help has come through a pair of disciples who have moved in from California to assist with the team. As we grow, we hope to reach more and more of the Fairbanks area.

As a mission team, we have worked diligently to get involved in the community through service to those in need. All of the church members are involved in regular volunteerism, whether it be through the local soup kitchen, the Boys and Girls Club, and a variety of other projects. Furthermore, the church meets on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus. Altogether, this allows us to be connected to the community in which we live, which provides daily opportunities to meet new people and spread God’s word.

We’ve been so encouraged to see how God has blessed the heart of the mission team, and we are looking forward to seeing how he continues to build up his kingdom in Fairbanks, Alaska!
