The Phoenix church enjoyed servbing the communty with their 4th annual HOPE Carnival for homeless children. It was attended by 725 homeless people and 320 volunteers. God blessed our event with the Harlem Globetrotters, ASU football players, and a team of 7 dental student performing checkups and fluoride treatments.
We gave countless free haircuts, manicures and pedicures. Campus students supplied amazing games that entertained the kids for hours; all this, along with a stilt walker, juggler and world class balloon artist. The Camaro Car Club had 10 tricked-out Camaros and 2 monster trucks. They also brought a really cool hot wheels race track and hundreds of hot wheels to give out to. We had 700 raffle prizes so everyone received a special present to take home with their Globetrotters t-shirt and over-the-top candy donations.
We served thousands of servings of cotton candy, snow cones and popcorn. We had a fam
ily photo picture booth with photos delivered right on the spot, thanks to Best Buy and HP. We had 5 disciples dressed up as Disney princesses for photo opportunities with the children. We supplied fingerprinting and an anti-bullying service. We had a medical brigade supplying blood pressure and podiatry checks, nutritional education and simple checkups. The face painting and story telling booths were packed all day as well. We allowed them to shop at a clothing store and pick from the coats obtained at our MLK coat drive. Not to mention great food, a bounce room and an obstacle course! We had a band playing all day and a DJ in the games area. It was completely mind blowing, God went all out this year!
