Rotarians for Fighting AIDS Honor HOPE worldwide
February 9, 2011 - HOPE worldwide was named “Partner of the Year” by the Rotarians for Fighting AIDS at the Annual Community Affairs Forum of the Coca Cola Africa Foundation in Accra, Ghana. Marion Bunch, Chair and CEO of Rotarians for Fighting AIDS, presented the award to Drs. Marc Aguirre, South Africa Country Director and Regional Technical Director and Mark Ottenweller, Global AIDS Coordinator of HOPE worldwide.
Celebrated for Years of Service
Ms. Bunch also recognized HOPE worldwide for its 20 years of commitment to the fight against AIDS in Africa and its role in the coordination of the ANCHOR Partnership implementation. The ANCHOR partners have reached 120,000 orphans and vulnerable children in Africa since they began working together in 2004. This partnership began with Coca Cola, Rotarians for Fighting AIDS, Emory School of Public Health, and HOPE worldwide working together in Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia, Botswana, Ivory Coast, and South Africa. Later ANCHOR programs expanded to Mozambique and Zimbabwe.

The Coca Cola Africa Foundation also celebrated its 10th Anniversary at the Community Affairs Forum and attributed its origin to the fight against AIDS in Africa. HOPE worldwide has worked closely with Rotary Clubs, Coca Cola Business Units and Bottlers, and local partners in communities across Africa to provide care and support to orphans and their families.
Grants to assist HOPE worldwide and its partners have come from USAID, CDC, Shell Oil, Coca Cola, AusAid, MTN, and Wal-Mart.
