Katrina: 10 Years Later
This month marks the 10-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, which has been labeled as single most catastrophic natural disaster and costliest hurricane in U.S. history. The unprecedented devastation and loss that was experienced across the Gulf Coast region was overwhelming. HOPE worldwide volunteers moved into action immediately and through the long-term recovery process, set a new precedent to how our organization responds to disasters.
Fall 2015 Community Service Brigades Applications Now Available
Imagine the impact you could make in a community or the blessing you could be to a family by giving a weekend of your time to join a HOPE worldwide Community Service Brigade. If you are a doctor, dentist, nurse, educator, or just want to make a difference, please consider joining us in Central America. Anyone interested in working hard to bring faith, hope and love to others is welcome to apply. We especially need bilingual Spanish speakers of any occupation! Truly, the difference you will make to someone in need is indescribable and will bring you back again and again.
HOPE Youth Corps Baptisms
Exactly one week after this summer’s HOPE Youth Corps (HYC) in Jakarta, two HYC members made the decision to become disciples and get baptized! Zann and Samuel are both 15 and from the Singapore teen ministry. We are so proud of them and how much they have grown to reach this point. Their experiences on HOPE Youth Corps allowed them to not only change the lives of others but also changed them. Here are their stories.
HOPEww Nepal Disaster Update
June 15, 2015 – HOPE worldwide Nepal is continuing to help ease the suffering of communities impacted by the devastating earthquake that rocked their nation almost two months ago. We are happy to report that HOPE worldwide has leveraged the initial donations to obtain and distribute critical relief supplies valued at US $300,000. As a result, 8,600 blankets, 3,300 tarp shelters and approximately 44,000 pounds of food supplieshave been distributed to those in need.
HYC December Programs Open
Spend your Christmas serving communities in need! Registration is now open for the Fiji and Philippines HOPE Youth Corps taking place this December. Both programs are open to teens, campus students, singles and families.
Robert Carrillo Named as HOPE worldwide CEO
Editors Note: HOPEww continues their history of excellent leadership with the selection of Robert Carrillo as the new CEO. Be sure to read this article and watch the video HOPEww made a few years ago of Robert sharing his moving personal story and passion to serve the poor.
HOPE worldwide announced today the appointment of Robert Carrillo as Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2015. Robert, who currently serves as the Lead Evangelist of the San Diego Church of Christ, will succeed Randy Jordan, who has served as HOPE worldwide’s CEO since 2008. Robert was selected as CEO after a succession process of more than one year led by the HOPE worldwide Board of Directors.
