Speakers Confirmed for FDC 2013

Douglas Jacoby is a freelance teacher and consultant. He is a graduate of Duke University (history), Harvard Divinity School (New Testament), and Drew University, where he earned his doctor of ministry degree. Jacoby has had an international teaching ministry for 25 years, preaching and teaching in 300 cities in 90 nations around the world. He and his wife, Vicki, live near Atlanta.

Sam and Geri Laing are in demand as speakers at marriage conferences throughout the US and abroad. Drawing from their lifetime of experience in ministry and counseling, they possess a unique ability to inspire, encourage and give new hope and heart to couples who long to have marriages alive with love and passion. With down-to-earth practical advice and scriptural teaching, along with lots of humor and fun, their presentations will leave you and your spouse prepared to rise to new levels of closeness and intimacy.  Sam and Geri are the co-authors of Friends and Lovers – Marriage As God Designed It. They also recently authored The Essential Eight Characteristics of a Growing Marriage – a workbook designed to for use in small groups. Sam and Geri have co-authored two other books, both on family life: Raising Awesome Kids In Troubled Times and The Wonder Years (with their daughter Elizabeth Thompson). In addition, Geri has written a book for women entitled A Life Worth Living and The Tender Years (co-authored with Elizabeth). Sam has authored four other volumes: Mighty Man of God, The Guilty Soul’s Guide to Grace, The Five Senses of Romantic Love, and Be Still, My Soul.  Serving for many years in churches from Florida to Massachusetts, the Laings now reside in Palm Beach County and work with the South Florida Church of Christ.

Scott and Lynne Green have been building, studying, and consulting with church ministries and church leaderships around the world since 1982.  They feel blessed to have extensive experience in campus ministry, leadership development, marriage counseling, family coaching, crisis intervention, and in organizational team-building and team communication. Starting in 1987, they served for ten years as missionaries in Hong Kong and China, and their work reflects the complexity of that profoundly cross-cultural experience. They currently live and serve in Seattle, Washington as congregational ministers of the Seattle church of Christ.
Lynne earned her B.A. in Biology and Anthropology from Tufts University in 1982 and is working on a Masters from Gonzaga University in Leadership & Communication. She adores her two children Stephen (24) and Ariel (22).  She serves local area hospitals with her two therapy dogs, and enjoys training sheep dogs as a hobby in the best traditions of Wales and Scotland.
Scott graduated from Boston University in 1983 with a B.A. in Philosophy & Religion. He finished his Masters degree in Psychology/MFT–in June, 2010 and holds an associate license in the state of Washington as a Marriage and Family Therapist. He loves his family, playing piano, narrative therapy, and red wine tastings with good friends.
