New England Evangelists Swap Congregations Building Unity Featured

NewEnglandOver the course of the years, our fellowship has tried about everything. Those creative attempts have been fun, creative, exhilarating and even painful at times. This month, the New England congregations joined together in a very simple but profound statement on June 2.We hosted a unity swap where an evangelist and women’s ministry leader from every New England church or region traveled to another congregation to share, preach, fellowship and enjoy the day.

Though visiting speakers is no new phenomenon. To make a one-day pronouncement that we trust, believe in and love each other in a unique kind of way was powerful. Most of the swaps took place with a prayer and drawing names from a hat.So Javier & Kelly Amaya from the Boston Spanish Ministry drove out to the Southern Connecticut Church to preach and share.Tom Caswell and his family from Worcester, MA, journeyed to the Hartford North Region.Glenn and Danielle Petruzzi from Portland, Maine, headed in to the Boston Downtown Ministry – their old stomping grounds – to reunite and celebrate God’s love. And on and on it went with new connections made, as well as former-days reunions taking place. The messages were varied and the services had a special buzz.Though we turned in different places in our Bibles, there was a common theme. It was this . . . . We are bound together by Christ. We love each other because He first loved us.And they will know we are Christians not primarily by our evangelism, poor projects or special contributions (all good things), but by our true love for one another.
