A Cry for Help: Ivory Coast Video

July 17 has been set as the day for the International Churches of Christ to donate in response to this cry for help that comes from Abidjan, Ivory Coast in West Africa. Traumatized by the violence of civil war, our brothers and sisters in our Abidjan Church of Christ now face 50% unemployment with little food and water. Hundreds lost everything and are now living like refugees. Over 1100 disciples are without jobs. 400 college students are without housing and food.

In terms of the number of our members affected and duration of suffering, this is the largest humanitarian crisis our churches have ever seen. Please help these desperate disciples.

Disciples Relocating as Abidjan Prepares for Battle

International Churches of Christ around the world are fasting and praying this month for disciples in danger around the world. Disciples Today and ICOC Hot News are keeping you appraised of some of these situations.

All indicators point to war breaking out in Abidjan in the near future. Hot News spoke with Francis Dassé in Abidjan today. Fierce firefights break out sporadically across the city. The bus station is crowded as people are fleeing to Accra, Ghana, and to Togo. Tens of thousands have crossed into Liberia as well.

In Abidjan itself hundreds of disciples are staying with other disciples in safe neighborhoods. About 80 are sleeping at the church building. Both the Accra church (English speaking) and the Lome church in Togo (French speaking) are ready to help. HOPEww is also eager to help gather relief monies to aid the disciples as they flee the fighting. Please keep up the prayers! We will keep you posted. Click here to donate through HOPE worldwide.

Please show the HotNews video "Disciples in Danger" in your church and ask your church to fast and pray. DVD's were mailed out this week to subscribing churches.

Already hundreds of disciples are refugees, and the fighting appears to be escalating. The current plan is for disciples who are fleeing the fighting to find peaceful cities for refuge. This is a crucial time. Your prayers are so needed. Dr. Solange Balou writes from Abidjan...
