On December 8, 2013, Maher Al-Hinn, delegate for the Middle East, died tragically in an automobile accident while attending a Middle East retreat in Beirut, Lebanon. Also severely injured in the accident were Maher’s wife Samar and Sami & Fadia Sakakini (co-leaders of the Amman, Jordan church & Maher’s sister & brother in law). All three suffered multiple injuries and broken bones, which required hospitalization and surgery.
Maher (42) had dedicated his whole adult life to serving in the full-time ministry. He, along with Samar, have been instrumental in the discipling and oversight of the churches in the Middle East.Maher’s funeral service was held on December 15th followed by a memorial service held at the Amman Church of Christ building on December 17th. Both services were overflowing with those attending to honor Maher’s life and to express their heartfelt condolences to Samar and her children. Among those in attendance were Al & Gloria Baird, Mike and Libby Rock (Los Angeles), Guillermo & Terry Adame (San Diego), Andy & Tammy Fleming (Birmingham, England), as well as leaders from Dubai, Cairo, and Beirut.
If any church or individual would like to help, the Middle East World Sector is setting up a fund to help with all of the expenses involved with Maher’s death as well as to provide support for Samar her children (Fadi, 17; Yara, 15; Farris, 6).
