Single disciples from literally all corners of the United States came together in Ft. Worth, TX, aka Cowtown, to get Spurred On this past September. Two years ago the Texas singles retreat had only 150 in attendance. This year that number more than doubled with 350 singles coming together to worship, fellowship and go deeper in their relationships with God.

The weekend kicked off on Friday night with an uplifting time of worship and singing praises to God, including singing the theme song for the event Spur You On written by Christ Alishan from Houston. Adam Smith and Lee Weathersby gave an incredible message on Spurring On Towards Love. Inspiring videos created by the DFW Church singles ministry were shown to further illustrate their points. And the fun continued into the night with Spur Fellowship, Texas two-step lessons and games.

Disciples were up early Saturday morning for a complimentary breakfast and to attend three class sessions. Ten different topics were presented as class options to spur on the attendees in more specific areas such as a being single again, leadership, evangelism, contentment, self-control, and many others. There was even a Minute to Win it completion that encouraged teamwork.

The afternoon gave time to break into groups and take part in various excursions around the great city of Ft. Worth. Even a little rain couldn’t damper the spirits of the disciples who enjoyed building memories with new and old relationships. Saturday night everyone came back together for more amazing worship and to hear a powerful message by Mike Rock from the LA Church. Mike shared very vulnerably from his life and called everyone to stay close to the Cross. Saturday night also had great fellowship activities including Rock Band, games and a lively dance party.

The weekend ended with a packed out Sunday worship service with the DFW Church. Disciples from the Turning Point Region in the LA Church came out to perform a play titled “Withholding”, written by Kimba Henderson. The play powerfully depicts Adam and Eve and goes into the topic of men’s and women’s roles and relationships. Mike Rock gave another incredible message, spurring us on in our relationships, to close out the event.

It was a little taste of heaven to see the fellowship, the convictions and the joy of the single disciples. Everyone was truly Spurred On to go back to where they live and continue to love God and love others.
