Church Planting --Fairbanks, Alaska

Thursday, 18 February 2010 17:26

The Great Land Christian church is making plans for planting a church a church in Fairbanks, Alaska.

For a long time now—to this very day—you have not deserted your brothers but have carried out the mission the LORD your God gave you (Joshuan 22:3)

The Great Land Christian Church is excited to be in the position to plant a church of disciples in the second largest city in Alaska, the city of Fairbanks. The Great Land Christian Church was planted in Anchorage, in the early 90’s and is eager to get the gospel to other parts of the State. My wife and I are excited to lead the way, my name is Don Ellis and I was born and raised in Fairbanks where I met my wife Kewanna over seven years ago. We have served in many capacities in the Anchorage Church over the past seven plus years and it has always been our dream to get a church in our hometown.

Our Plan

The Great Land Christian Church has wanted to plant a church for years and many over those years have given much to this purpose. There is a little over $60,000 in our missions fund for this purpose. So, our plan would be to plant a church in the City of Fairbanks and would like a financial support plan to help us over the next three years. Of course we will also need other types of support, like visiting on a regular basis. Here are a few of the other details:

· Don and Kewanna are moving there March 1, 2010.

· The “official” plant time will be Labor Day weekend 2010

· Fairbanks info visit: http://fairbanks-alaska.com/

· Connect with us on Face book, look for Golden Heart Christian Church

There are a few disciples that are going and will have moved by the official planting date. There is currently a military couple living there, Jeremy and Hilda Gonzalez. Many other families, from outside Alaska have inquired about a Fairbanks church and we have received other e-mails in the past from disciples who have considered moving there.

Our successful development of the Alaska Chapter of HOPE worldwide will enable us to instantly get involved in meeting the needs of the people of the community. We believe that this will really help us make an impact. Fairbanks is a city full of hope and people that are down to earth with big hearts waiting to be filled with the gospel. We believe that the model of Hope coupled with the hearts of the disciples will have an immediate impact on Fairbanks.
