Our hearts are saddened to announce that at 5:30 PM on August 4, our dear brother Bruce Matthews passed from this life to eternity at the age of 42. Bruce became a disciple in 1991 in Wichita, Kansas; one of the early conversions after the church was planted.
From the very beginning Bruce displayed a heart totally committed to God and sought the Kingdom first. He and his wife Laura lead teen, singles and married ministries while in Wichita.
They went on to the Full Time Ministry in the Los Angeles church. They moved back to Wichita and became a major influence for God in leading the west sector, serving on the Board of Directors and the Leadership Team. Though we rejoice in Bruce finishing the race, he will be dearly missed.
Bruce’s devotion to God and people, his sense of adventure and fun, his warm smile and loving heart and his unwavering loyalty to the Pittsburgh Steelers endeared him to those he met.
We continue to pray for his wife, Laura, and children, Gavin and Graci for God’s comfort and strength.
