Lagos, Nigeria Church Hosts Reception for Young Christians Featured

elder new christianThe elders and sheparding couples of ICOC Nigeria hosted a young Christians reception in Lagos on October 31. The reception encouraged young Christians to continue to grow in Christ.  

Imagbe Igbinoba, an elder in the church, read Hebrews 12:18-22 as he welcomed the young Christians who were baptized or restored since 2014. He wanted them to understand they are born into this great family and recognized by God. They were all encouraged to stay strong in the faith. He noted that some of them had started to serve in various roles of leadership in the church. He prayed they will rise up to lead as evangelists and elders someday.

Another elder, Omo Iyamu, gave them a brief church overview on the history of the church in Lagos and the impact on plantings by Lagos in Nigeria and across West Africa. He made explained also that they are part of a global family of 667 churches in 150 countries in the world. He went ahead to brief them on the leadership structure in the church. He also explained the doctrinal position of who we are as disciples and a church.The young Christians were able to meet the three elders along with their wives and five shepherding couples. At the end, Imagbe encouraged them to imitate the faith of these men and women who had been in the faith for an average of 27 years.

Ken Agoghovbia and Niyi Oshilaja taught about having a disciplined life and time management. From Ecclesiastes 3:1-2, they taught on the essentials of time and to make the most of it. Once time is lost, it can't be regained. Fred George spoke on 'Kingdom Man & Woman: Claim your Destiny'. He explained the present and the future kingdom and how they have left the kingdom of darkness and so belong to God.

In his closing remark, Israel Ereola called on them to be teachable and rise up to do great in the kingdom of God.
