The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Break camp and advance into the hill country of the Amorites; go to all the neighboring peoples in the Arabah, in the mountains, in the western foothills, in the Negev and along the coast, to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the Euphrates. See, I have given you this land. -- Deuteronomy 1:6-8a

Grand Junction mission team sendoffIn June of 2014, 13 disciples from the Denver Church of Christ broke camp and advanced into the hill country of Grand Junction, Colorado. The mission team consisted of several married couples, singles, and part-time campus ministry interns. Yet even with no full-time staff members of their own, the church has experienced great victories of faith and growth since landing on the Western Slope of the Rocky Mountains a year and a half ago. God continues to convince us that he has truly “given [us] this land.”

God’s ability to provide has amazed us from the very beginning. First, he hand-selected a great mission team of talented individuals that each use their unique gifts to build up the church. He then led us to a large coffee shop just one block from Colorado Mesa University where the church now meets for worship every Sunday.

He has provided jobs for two of the mission team members at the university, as well as a house just across the street from campus, opening many doors for the campus ministry to thrive. God has also worked through the Denver church staff, providing personalized video sermons for some of our Sunday worship services.

Grand Junction ICOC serviceAs a result of God’s faithfulness, many souls have been saved! There have been 11 baptisms total since the church was planted, with conversions in every ministry: teens, campus, marrieds, and singles of all ages. Two mission team members were able to reach out to their moms who live in the Grand Junction area, and both became disciples this past year!

Additionally, God has blessed the church with a restoration, a new marriage, and three babies. Between baptisms, restorations, and move-ins, the church has more than doubled, with a current membership of 28. Our most recent services have had over 50 attendees, and God continues to do immeasurably more than we could ask for or imagine!

Our theme for 2016 is “Family,” and we’re excited to see how God both strengthens and spreads his family in Grand Junction this year! Please keep us in your prayers and to God be the glory!
