Dusseldorf 20 years 2Earlier this month, Tom and I had the incredible privilege of traveling to Germany for the 20th anniversary service for the Dusseldorf Church of Christ. Many years back, our family was a part of the German and Swiss church plantings; being able to return again to meet up with many of these disciples was an honor.

We experienced vast emotions of gladness as we reunited with those we have loved and prayed for. It goes without saying that we also felt a sense of parental pride in recognizing how so many have grown and thrived over the years.

On Saturday evening, we celebrated what God has done in the lives of so many. Disciples came together from many other cities throughout Germany and Switzerland for a meal, fellowship and sharing sweet memories. It was a taste of heaven!

Dusseldorf 20 yearsOn Sunday morning, Oliver Buch (now from Berlin), preached a powerful sermon, exhorting us to consider what lasts and to keep our eyes on such things.  Over the years, churches have faced challenges in growth, change and unity. He reminded us that all of this will pass, but the word of God remains forever. That is our hope.

It was with joy and tears that Tom and I were able to express to this group our deep gratitude for the opportunity to spend so many years in that part of the world. The churches there are never far from our hearts and prayers. We are honored to be a part of the lives of so many faithful men and women. Praise God for his goodness and faithfulness.
