We continue to serve at an elderly home near Ufa. Sometimes it is not easy, because there are many different kinds of people there. Some of them are not healthy physically, some of them are not healthy mentally. But we have a lot of friends there now. And we try to make their last days a little better. Sometimes we show them old movies, sometimes we organize Bible talks, sometimes we just talk one on one about their lives, health and so on.
When we came to this home in the spring 2013 we saw a new woman there. Her name is Tonya. This time we organized a Bible talk, and we saw that she was very much interested. Some people didn’t listen well and always tried to change the topic, but Tonya stopped them, asked questions and tried to discuss the spiritual meaning of the Bible. It was so encouraging to meet her!
Later on, we studied Bible with her. She had a lot of questions, especially about orthodox church practices, which are very popular in Russia. She was baptized in early childhood and it was not easy for her to accept the fact it was not a true baptism. We continued to read the Bible, pray for faith and on August 1, 2014, she was baptized! Thanks God!
We have seen four baptisms in this elderly home. Three of them have passed away, but Tonya is still alive in spite of all health problems.
We are happy to see the mercy of God, who gives people a chance for salvation even on the doorstep of death. Maybe we are last chance for some of them to repent and believe in Jesus.
