I first started doing slideshows/videos back in 1998 when we started leading a bible talk in Marlboro
At work, we did not have any on-site folks hired to do video productions. So, when there was a need, we formed a team of volunteers to do multi-media productions in our 'extra' time. It was not a part of any of our real jobs
In leading this team, I was ale to learn a great deal from one of the guys who had 10 years of real media industry experience. He contributed greatly to me learning more. Earlier this year, I had an idea at work to have a video being narrated by shrinking person promote an otherwise boring idea to our manufacturing techs. Quality First.
We used the green screen technique to pull off the effect. After doing that, God put this concept on my heart about what if our physical size changed in relationship to our spiritual size. So in terms of the creative process, this idea came together. I had been putting together our region end of year videos for a number of years and wanted one this year with a real biblical message. I talked to our star, Bob Herrmann and he liked the idea. He just solicited other volunteers in our Bible Talk and region.
From the creative process standpoint, we brain-stormed the story line and different folks added ideas. Then we wrote out the scripts and had different volunteers for the parts. Even one of our elders, Ken Ostrowski got involved.
The group was very enthusiastic about doing it and of course they loved
watching it - first as a Bible Talk then with the whole region.
It has given us a good reference point for discipling. Now in some conversations we say things like - we don't want to be a ???shrinking Bob??? in terms of stepping out on faith.
We had a lot of fun working on this. Bob did a great job!
