HOPE worldwide Community Service Brigade – Guatemala
It is hard for us to imagine the emotional and physical pain many people endure each day. However, HOPE worldwide volunteers encounter hundreds living in the midst of the most painful poverty and disease daily. In Guatemala, we met Lizeth a very charming, intelligent and outgoing 11-year old despite the fact she was unloved by her mother and given to her aunt.

Prior to the HOPE worldwide Community Service Brigades, medical and dental care had never been available for Lizeth. Now suffering with a severe toothache she was desperate for relief. When she heard that the Brigade would be at the Guatemala City church, her aunt accompanied Lizeth in search of relief from the terrible pain.

That Saturday little Lizeth received hope. She was so happy to see the doctors. The dentist extracted the aching tooth and the pediatrician gave her three months of vitamins. Lizeth now dreams of becoming a doctor. She shared, “I want to help other people, just like you helped me.”
