The Colorado Springs Christian Church began an official chapter of HOPE worldwide in July 2009. In the past year HOPE worldwide: Colorado Springs Chapter has had many opportunities to serve those in need, but there are two programs in particular that have had significant impact.

Mountain" sung by New York Harlem Singers at the US Ambassador's house on December 22. The group was in Jakarta in a charity concert for HOPE worldwide Indonesia.

ICOC Volunteers with HOPEww and Red Cross Helping Hurricane Ike Evacuees
Over a million people were ordered to evacuate the Gulf Coast of the USA this week due to Hurricane Ike. Members of the International Churches of Christ are volunteering with HOPEww and the American Red Cross to help evacuees of Hurricane Ike. ICOC Disciples Reach Out to Hurricane Victims
HOPE worldwide put out the call for volunteers. Disciples from the International Churches of Christ came from Hawaii to New York and Chicago to Houston. Some stayed after the recent International Singles Conference in Dallas and some returned who had served at the 2008 International Campus Ministry Conference in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
Shining Lights Among Hurricane Devastation
As my plane dropped through the cloud cover into Baton Rouge yesterday, the widespread devastion from the high winds and rain of Hurricane Gustav was evident. Blue tarps were covering many roofs and large oak and pine trees were scattered about in all directions like a grown-up version of the game "Pick Up Sticks" gone wrong.
Hurricane Gustav Relief Volunteers
After hearing the call for HOPE worldwide volunteers, announced on Sunday at the closing service of International Singles Conference in Dallas, Texas, a couple dozen disciples joined hundreds of disciples from the Dallas Ft Worth Church at the local Red Cross Chapter to serve the evacuees from Hurrican Gustav.

Red Cross Urgently Appeals to HOPEww for 1200 Volunteers for Hurricane Gustav Relief
The Red Cross made an urgent appeal to HOPEworldwide for 1,200 volunteers. Hurricane Gustav could be worse than the devastaing Hurricane Katrina of 2005. Evacuations are already occurring. ICOC volunteers are needed urgently. Medical and health care professionals are requested. Donations are also needed. Gempels Receive Spirit of HOPE Award As Randy Jordan Becomes HOPE worldwide CEO
Frank Kim, HOPE worldwide’s chairman of the board, presented Bob and Pat Gempel with the Spirit of HOPE award for their indomitable spirit and passionate hearts which infuse everything that takes place at HOPE worldwide. The Gempels officially "rewired" to become HOPEww volunteers and the board appointed Randy Jordan as the new CEO.
