Bolivia declares state of emergency due to drought, water shortage
Last Monday, Bolivia's government declared a state of emergency due to water shortages in large swaths of the country during the worst drought in 25 years, making funds available to alleviate a crisis that has affected families and the agricultural sector. "We have to be prepared for the worst," said Evo Morales at a press conference, adding that the current crisis was an opportunity to "plan large investments" to adapt to the effects of climate change on the country's water supply.
Request: Please pray as we go through this challenge in our country and city in La Paz as a church. We have around 30 minutes of water during the day to bathe, clean toilets, houses and clothes. We pray this may bring the country closer to God.
Tarija group coming this week to study the Bible
A group of seven from the city of Tarija, composed of family and friends from disciples of the La Paz church, will come this week to La Paz with the purpose of studying the Bible for a whole week. Tarija is a city of over 400,000 people near the border of Argentina. This group of 15 that gathers in Tarija were tired of religiosity in the way the people were misleading them to Christ. They started to meet together and want disciples of Christ to help them start a new church in their city. The majority of them are paying everything to be with us and to understand our walk with Christ and the commitment as disciples.
Request: Please pray that God prepares them and us as we get together next week and we can see their lives changed by the word of God and become true disciples of Christ. The church has been called to pray and fast for these group.
First local appointments in Bolivia
As part of the vision for God to expand his church in Bolivia and to support other countries, on Sunday November 27, Cristian and Paty Escobar were appointed evangelist and women's ministry leader for the church in Santa Cruz. This coming Sunday, December 4, Kevin and Noelle Broyles will be appointed deacon in charge of the benevolence and sheperding ministries, along with Raul and Monica Barrientos who will be appointed deacon in charge of the administrative ministry. We are so grateful for these two amazing events and we hope they give glory to our Lord and support the growth, strategy and legacy of the churches in Bolivia.
Request: Please pray that God leads the way in all details and that these events may inspire, edify and support the churches, as well to leave a solid foundation for future generations to come.
