Silipos Return to Lead Milan Church

Thursday, 04 December 2008 20:20

Could this be the beginning of a new trend? Ministry leaders in Los Angeles, Joe and Annie Silipo are returning to lead the church they planted in Milan, Italy in 1991. Some mature couples are leaving the comfort of home to give needed leadership to smaller churches.

We are also encouraged that the Milan Church of Christ recently committed to the Cooperation Churches.

During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them. Acts 16:9,10

In 1991 Joe and Annie Silipo, Bob and Laurie Tranchell and a team totaling 22 disciples planted the church in Milan, Italy. When Joe and Annie departed Italy in 1992 God had placed a great desire on their hearts to return some day in order to continue the work in Italy.

Italy is a country of 59 million souls. The Milan church recognizes the desperate need to spread the gospel throughout the entire country. Consequently, the leadership of the Milan church with the full support of the congregation has asked Joe and Annie to return to Milan. God willing they will do so, along with their 2 boys Joseph (15) and Sammy (10), next summer to serve as the evangelist couple and help lead the church with the dream of planting churches throughout all of Italy.

Joe and Annie are very grateful to the Milan disciples and the International Missions Society for the vision, love and sacrifice to make this happen.

The Milan leadership and the Silipo’s would like to invite all disciples, especially college students and singles who have a heart for the mission field, to consider moving to Milan in order to serve and train for future Italian church plantings.
