"IN YOUR FACE"

Poetry used as Middle School Teaching Tool

"In Your Face"

Things to smoke and things to swallow,

Can make your brain so warm and hollow,

Filled with thoughts of things unreal,

Happy thoughts, as cold as steel.

People hide out on the lane.

Selling things to melt your brain.

Gone will be your troubled times,

Along with all that???s in your mind.

Uppers lift you up so high,

And downers make you try to fly.

Needles make you get their point,

And long for more in loathsome joints.

The costs of all these lethal drugs,

Will break your bank like hardened thugs.

You???ll beg for more and steal a few,

And lose the friends you ever knew.

For once you???re hooked, the line is drawn.

You march across, a helpless pawn.

Forgotten family, far behind,

You fight to keep your place in line.
