A Fresh Look at John 15 and the Vine: Is It a Scary Passage?

He walked up to me with tears in his now reddened eyes after the sermon was over, which seemed a bit odd considering it wasn’t a very emotional type of lesson. Before I could even ask him what was going on, he blurted out, “that sermon changed my entire life as a Christian.”

Messiah and the Festival of Lights (Hanukkah)

This year Hanukah will begin next Wednesday evening, Dec 1 with the lighting of the first candle. Jewish homes around the globe will observe this celebration of victory by lighting candles for 8 days and retelling the story along with the observance of several other fun customs and activities.

In honor of this week’s celebrations I hope to share some insights into the Christmas / Hanukkah connection. There are many beautiful and spiritual elements about Hanukkah that make it relevant for all believers. it has been said that if there had not been a Hanukkah there never could have been a Christmas.

The Church and the World - Part 2

Case Studies: Clement, Ignatius and Irenaeus

The classes that Douglas, Joey and I taught on the early Church Fathers were primers for newcomers. We tried to set the stage for new readers to get inside the situations that prompted the writings of Clement or Rome, Ignatius of Antioch and Irenaeus of Lyon—all overseers. I believe we captured and heart and motivation of these champions of the faith.
