I Dreamed of My Mother’s Baptism for 20 Years

alex1 resizeMy lovely mom got baptized. I've been waiting for this to happen for 20 years. In the beginning I want to share a bit more about my mom, Tamara. For me it is really hard to describe her and everything I feel towards her. Love, tenderness, compassion and admiration, as well as feelings of regret about mistakes I've made and even misunderstandings between us.

For the longest time, I couldn't understand how she felt about me being a disciple and going to church. I thought she didn't believe in God and didn't take the church seriously. All the time my mom, as a dedicated wife, shared the thoughts and opinions of my dad, who wasn't supportive of my beliefs. They were engineers and geologists who always relied on their own mind and understanding. At least, this is what I thought. Only later did I understand how wrong I was. After my dad passed away, my mom shared with me that she always believed in the creator in her own way. And below is the story she told me.

In 1992, when I was serving in the Northern fleet, she would go and visit her father Adam, who was living the last days of his life. On her way she would always pass a chapel that stood on the site of the present Church of All Saints in Ekaterinburg. She would promise God to dedicate me to him, if I would come back alive and in good health. As I returned home and some of the disciples started coming to our house, she clearly understood that God was literally taking me to be his follower. Since then, 20 years have passed and only now was my mom able to open up and share this story with me. To be honest with you, after this I realized that there are no atheists. Instead there are people who for some reason, just don't talk about God.

Now my mom is baptized and she is a part of our church. For me that is the biggest miracle and evidence of God's love. My wife and I are really grateful that God transformed my mom's heart and showed her the way to him. Thank you everyone who has been praying and studying the Bible with her. Thank you for your loving and caring hearts!

In conclusion, I would like to share a passage from the Bible, where it says the seeker of light and truth will escape the judgment of God:

"For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God." -- John 3:17-21 (NIV)
