Kwitcherbelyakin! "Quit the Bellyaching and Encourage Someone!"

Deuteronomy 3:26-28: But because of you the Lord was angry with me and would not listen to me. "That is enough," the Lord said. "Do not speak to me anymore about this matter. Go up to the top of Pisgah and look west and north and south and east. Look at the land with your own eyes, since you are not going to cross this Jordan. But commission Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for he will lead this people across and will cause them to inherit the land that you will see."

We all have a tendency to be like Moses. He was a great leader in the most part for the Israelites. However, he was a good bellyacher too. Moses didn't get all his way, so it was time to bellyache with God. We tend to do the same thing that Moses does with our bellyaching with God too.Kwitcherbelyakin

God is good at curing us all. God pretty much responds to Moses' bellyaching mode with giving him a healthy dose of, "no pity party, suck it up, and quit your bellyaching" medicine. God works it well with Moses and he can work it well in giving us the same type of dosage.

God has this medicine work like this, "Stop it. Just quit your bellyaching. I already made up my mind and I am not going to change it. Deal with it." Furthermore, God does have a great curing medicine to help stop our bellyaching. God makes things about an outward focus. It is to think outside your belly and direct your heart and mind on encouraging someone else. God wants to see us to be great example to be on others more than just ourselves and the best way to do that is to encourage one another. God uses the medicine to work like this after the belly aching medicine helps, "It is not about only you. It is about how to help another person. Encourage one another and strengthen one another to do awesome things for God. God will be pleased with you with your heart and the heart of others when you encourage them to stay strong in the faith."

Moses probably took that medicine from God well. Moses was going to get his attention off of himself and redirect his attention on Joshua and what will happen to the Israelites after him. Joshua probably felt good and pretty confident hearing what Moses was sharing to him. Joshua was spending quite a bit of time already with Moses and this was not the first time Moses was sharing what Joshua would do for God in leading the Israelites into the Promised Land. Joshua probably felt the love and encouragement from Moses.

How do you feel when you suffer from a bellyache? You feel the pain that it is only about you. How do you feel when you encourage and strengthen another person? You feel the joy because it is helping someone else. Encouragement to others is one of the best cures that God can give to us. Let's not be the bellyachers, but let's be the encouragers that God wants us to be towards one another.
