Christ himself said, "It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law."  Luke 16:17  Every now and then, after spending some time digging in the scriptures, an obscure word begins to radiate eternal meaning.

Four Ways to Stop Loving Money

I love the smell and feel of a new thing I just bought. The experience of opening the box of a new iPhone is exhilarating, so is pushing the “purchase” button on Amazon.com.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with loving to get new stuff. There is, however, something wrong with any obsession. The problem with obsession is, we frequently don’t know we’re obsessed, when in reality we are.

Statistically this is true of us in the US. How do we know this?

The Four Spiritual Food Groups

To be healthy, you need a balanced diet of the four food groups. To be spiritually healthy, you need a balanced spiritual diet as well. It's important we don't all focus on one food group, our favorite. We need to take a look at our spiritual diet and see if it's balanced.

Christianity in a Postmodern World

Dr. John Oakes taught a class titled "Christianity in a Postmodern World" at the 2013 International Christian Evidence Conference at San Diego State University. He proposes a rational Christian response to both the good and the bad which comes with postmodern thinking.  The class covers the history of modernism and why it was replaced by postmodernism, with a brief bio of the major influences in the movement, as well as suggesting both the strengths and weaknesses of the postmodern mood.
