Nairobi Church Opens First Facility in East Africa

Saturday, 26 June 2010 05:28
Sunday, June 27, 2010 will be a landmark day for the International Churches of Christ East Africa family of churches. It will be the occasion for the opening in Nairobi, Kenya of the first church-owned facility in the region, the realization of a dream long held, the fruit of tireless endeavor of many visionaries, and the product of sacrificial generosity of disciples and churches in Kenya and in the USA.

When King Solomon built a temple for the LORD, “He overlaid the inside with pure gold, and he also overlaid the altar of cedar. Solomon covered the inside of the temple with pure gold, and he extended gold chains across the front of the inner sanctuary, which was overlaid with gold.” 1 Kings 6:20,21.

Silver and gold the Nairobi disciples have not had, but what they’ve had they have used in building a sanctuary for God’s glory. The construction is due for completion towards the end of this year (artist’s impression, right).

Let us join the Kenya disciples in prayer for an inspiring service on June 27. Let us join our brothers and sisters in prayer that the building—a testament to faith, perseverance and cross-congregational unity—will not be so much a monument as an arena for exciting, electric, edifying ecclesiastical and evangelistic events to the glory of God for the advancement of his kingdom.
