A Record-Breaking Service in the Tokyo Church of Christ Featured

Nine disciples from across the US flew to Japan on June 7, 2016. The purpose of this "American Ninja" team was to save souls, encourage the Japanese disciples and to build unity in a fractured world.

Inspired by the American Ninjas and their willingness to sacrifice and share the Gospel to the people of Japan, the disciples put their hearts into the summer campaign. Disciples set up evangelism teams on the weekends and weeknights, and all decided to pray either at 6:12 AM or 6:12 PM to pray for God to bless our service on June 12. We emphasized the importance of working as a team and for every single member to be involved at whatever capacity they were able to participate. Disciples prayed fervently and shared with thousands of people. We prayed specifically for two goals: 1) To have the largest attendance in recent history and 2) To set up 30 new Bible studies. We prepared a special service on the theme of the parable of the lost son.

Tokyo Our talented disciples produced a 40-minute original musical based on the parable and Rob Skinner preached the Word. In order to maximize the number of people who could come, we decided to have two Bible studies and conducted Bible classes after each service for first time visitors. God answered prayers as we saw 914 in attendance and 30 new people attending our Bible classes in addition to many others who have decided to study the Bible. It was an exciting, inspiring and uplifting service. Many disciples shed tears of joy, as we remembered how far God has brought our church.

Our hope is that the Tokyo Church can be an inspiration for churches around the world who have gone through difficult challenges in the last few years. Please continue to pray for our work in Japan.

This video summarizes our week in Tokyo and how God was able to use Japanese and international disciples working together to see amazing things happen. Sosro Wibowo Karsosoemo, who leads the church in Okinawa, Japan created this video.
