The DFW (Dallas/Ft. Worth) Church is excited to share about some appointments in God’s Kingdom in 2013.
In April, Ben and Susan Borland were appointed evangelist and women’s ministry leader. Ben and Susan have done a phenomenal job leading the campus ministry in the North West region, which includes University of North Texas and Texas Women’s University. Ben was baptized in 2003 while attending University of Texas at Austin. Susan was baptized in 2000 in the Chicago Church of Christ teen ministry. Ben moved to Dallas in 2008 to go on staff and be trained and Susan came a year later. They have one daughter and are expecting another child.
The congregational singles ministry leaders, Adam and Bethany Smith, were appointed evangelist and women’s ministry leader in August. Adam was baptized in 2003 in the Turning Point Region of the Los Angeles Church. He has served in the ministry in Turning Point, in Atlanta, and in Montana and has a Masters in Divinity. Bethany was baptized as a teen in 1990 in the Boston Church of Christ, and she has served on staff in campus and teen ministries in New England. In 2011, Adam moved to Dallas to lead the singles ministry and not long after Bethany followed, they married and now serve side by side in the ministry. Adam and Bethany have done a great job stepping into a brand new role and building a vibrant singles ministry.
Don Murray, who has demonstrated a great heart to shepherd and love those around him, was appointed as an elder this September. Don and his wife Shelia moved from Boston, Massachusetts in November 2003 where they were members of the Boston Church of Christ. The couple have been disciples for over 30 years and have spent the last ten in the DFW Church. They have led house churches and currently serve as leaders of the Youth and Family Ministry in their region. They have two daughters - Meagan and Melissa – who are part of the Pittsburgh and Boston churches.
