Asharan Orphanage Report - December 2010
Asharan Orphanage had been a refuge of hope for hundreds of lost and abandoned children that came under its shelter since 1998. These are innocent children who otherwise would have become victims of cruelty and abuse. Many of them would not be alive today. Most would never have made it to their adoptive families or back to their own families. Asharan has saved many lives.
3 year old Vansh was orphaned when his mom died of poverty and illness. This homeless child had no place to go. Asharan became his home. 4 year old Anshu was found outside a hospital, malnourished and dying. Her health is improving slowly at Asharan. 4 year old Kumkum was rescued from a drunken stranger. She no longer has to face any abuse now that she is under Asharan’s shelter. Prematurely born Varsha, was picked up from the road side, having been abandoned the day she was born. If she was left there longer she wouldn’t have celebrated her 8th birthday at Asharan this past October.
It was our dream to have a permanent building for these unfortunate children so that they get a chance to have a better childhood. This dream materialized when we purchased a building in West Delhi under mortgage and moved there in 2008. The renovation of the building was done with the help of many good hearted people.
This year we would like to pay off the entire loan so that it does not over burden the daily needs of the Orphanage. My appeal to all of you is to give a contribution towards the building fund. Place yourself in the shoes of these vulnerable children, scared and alone, needing a safe to live in, and give what your heart says. Make this a memorable year for the orphan children who can feel at peace knowing they will have a home in the time to come. The pending loan amount is INR 80,00,000 (USD 200,000). Whatever you donate will be like the brick that builds Asharan.
