We have a one of a kind opportunity to combine the Teen Camp atmosphere and the power of a campus conference all in one. The ICMC site is in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Everywhere you look you see God’s creation. The outdoor and fun activities in Estes will give the conference that “Teen Camp” feel. At the same time we will have the full effect of the Campus Ministry Conference, with heart moving worship, life changing preaching, and over 1,000 college students in attendance. This has never been done before and may never be reproduced.
I remember the first ICMC I went to in Los Angeles in 2006. I was a young Christian, a broke college student, and going into my sophomore year of college. The sisters in my ministry convinced me to go and held bake sales in my honor to help raise money for me to attend the conference. The journey alone was epic. I was wedged in-between 8 other college students for 19 hours as we drove out to Los Angeles. I never thought I would be so relieved to have hundreds of college students in my life. But nothing could prepare me for the experience I had. The fellowship reminded me of what I read in Acts chapter 2. We had nothing in common but Jesus as our Lord and that was all we needed to have a great time. The lessons blew my mind away. I still remember the titles of the class such as “The Heart of Timothy”, “Here Am I Send Me”, and “The Heart for the Mission”. I remember going on dates, playing soccer, going to the beach and swimming for the first time in 14 years. It was the time of my life!
What still echoes in my life from that conference are the decisions I made while I was there. God placed on my heart for the first time the desire to be trained, the dream to rebuild a thriving campus ministry in Denver, and the faith to overcome all the challenges that would follow. I remember coming back home and forming a small group of guys that decided to fast and pray together so we could answer the calling that God had placed on our hearts. That was the impact of my first ICMC. I have been to 4 ICMCs since that time. I even got to attend and speak at one in Norway! There has not been one ICMC that has not significantly changed and molded my life. On behalf of our entire ICMC committee, I assure you that the ICMC US West in 2011 will be a mountain-top experience for you. I cannot wait to see all the ways God will be glorified and magnified by this conference. See you July 28-31!
