Baptisms in Belize

Saturday, 16 December 2006 22:11
For the last three months in our church here in Belize we had been praying and fasting and asking God for his compassion on this city and making every effort to help others to get to know God through the Bible ... thanks to his unfailing love, today he gave us a new brother and a new sister in Christ, Dalton and Cynthia

"I will proclaim the name of the Lord.
Oh, praise the greatness of our God!
He is the Rock, his works are perfect,
and all his ways are just.
A faithful God who does no wrong,
upright and just is he."

-- Deuteronomy 32:3-4

The reason why I'm writing is because I couldn't wait to share with all of you who have been supporting us in many different ways our great news as an opportunity to exalt the name of our Almighty Father!  As some of you know, for the last three months in our church here in Belize we had been praying and fasting and asking God for his compassion on this city and making every effort to help others to get to know God through the Bible without any visible results (because it was a time to grow in our faith and perseverance, compassion, etc.), but thanks to his unfailing love, today he gave us a new brother and a new sister in Christ, Dalton and Cynthia, and I want to share with you also our joy for we know there is a party in Heaven for each single person who decides to turn his or her way to God.

Dalton visited our church the first time five years ago, when he was invited by his supervisor at work, Mrs. Cynthia Genitty, a great, faithful disciple.  But at that time he did not come to God.  He was a guy full of religiousity, but it did not allow him to take the grace of God for his life.  But Mrs. Genitty said since that first time she did not stop praying for him and taking every opportunity to share her faith with him.

And after all this time today she was so happy about how God faithfully answered her prayers.  Dalton was also full of gratefulness for what God has done for him and the gift he had prepared for him.  This time he is so eager to serve and support in any way possible, to put all his knowledge and talents towards the service of God and his kingdom.  Now Mrs. Genitty and Dalton are determined to make more disciples in their workplace.

Mrs. Cynthia Gentle, our new sister, was invited some months ago by a sister whom she used to baby-sit for, Hortence (she was baptized in April of this year).  It's really amazing how God works and what he did in their lives.  They shared how they always used to cry together, to be there for each other when they were without God and without hope, but how now God has given them the best reason to cry -- joy and gratitude.  Both of them were crying out of joy, and we, too, were moved in our hearts by what they were sharing.

Now both of them, Hortence and Mrs. Cynthia, are part of a ministry that is just starting, composed of single moms.  Our prayer is to bring hope to all the women in this city who are burdened because they have the entire responsibility for their children, being mom and dad at the same time.  So please, let's pray for them.

Also, our new sister had surgery on her throat a few months ago while she was studying the Bible, but a mistake during that operation affected her vocal cords.  Now she is working to get the money for a new operation.  Please pray specially for her health situation.

I love you all.  Thank you so much for your work.  Please keep us in your prayers!!!
