On Jan 29th – 31st the Queens region of the New York Church of Christ held their 2010 Spiritual Enrichment Weekend, entitled “The Mission,” with guest speakers Frank, Erica, and Miyoko Kim. Read what people are saying.

God used the Kim’s in ways far beyond our imagining. The church was inspired, convicted and brought to tears. Many believe this was the best.
A brother in Christ
I was cut, I was humbled, I was refreshed. Many use the excuse that they don't have enough and therefore can't afford to evangelize; others say they have too much and must spend most of their energy managing it. This weekend I witnessed a rare commodity, a rich man that will pass through the eye of a needle because of his humility and honesty. This weekend God revealed to me through Frank, Erica, and Miyoko what Proverbs 30:8-9 looks like in real time. Although God did not exempt them from challenges, he also did not exempt them from reward. I will be bolder. I will remove the "bubble wrap" and get back to being about the Lord's business.

I was not able to make it Friday and Saturday, but I was so glad that my family was able to hear you (Frank) preach from your heart on Sunday. It was so great to remember that God is calling me higher in my relationship with him. That God is a god who is full of compassion. He cares about me, It is great to know that he is calling me to the mission. Thanks for asking us to study out Ephesians and helping us see a picture of who God is. God is a rich, generous, and gracious God!!!! Thanks for reminding us that we are called to an incredible vision and mission. That God almighty never looses his vision for us!!!! No matter where we are in our walk with him. Thanks for reminding me that God has a vision for me. God believes in me. That God calls us to an incredible impact and God calls us to trust him. Thanks for sharing that God does not want me to be afraid or discouraged. I am willing and I hope that everyone will be willing no matter where we are with our relationship with God. I am grateful that you were so open with your life and your victories and your struggles. I think the most impacting thing you said was it does not matter if you were around before Jesus Christ or now 2010. It does not matter if you live in Japan or NYC all that matters is the mission is still the same. The mission is not limited to my limitations. Thanks again and the message that your preached is exactly what we needed to hear. If we strive to be close to God we will have the mission on our hearts!!!! Thanks again and we will continue to pray for all the saints and the mission.

One of the 1st passages that came to mind after Friday night's session is in 2 Kings 4:8-37, but particularly, verses 31-36. This is a passage that I continually have to re-visit; I believe it gets to the heart of Christ. The Bible never states WHY the boy was not brought back to life when Gehazi went to him; after all, he did follow his masters instructions by laying the staff on the boy. But then, we know that Jesus is ALL about the heart, this is the example that Elisha showed, by laying "...mouth to mouth, eyes to eyes, hands to hands..." He didn't just go through the motions. He poured out his heart. This weekend I, too, "sneezed" from the warmth and love that Frank, Erica and Miyoko willingly and openly shared with us all.

Truly I was sobered by Frank's openness, and humility. What he shared on Friday is something I was seeking, an active relationship with God. Not just being a member of a church, or a "pew-warmer", or just a servant, but to commune with the Lord, fasting and praying, and having deeper relationships with others. Please keep me in prayer. I want to keep stoked, many days afterwards.

Over this passed weekend, even in my busy schedule, I was able to attend the Annual Spiritual Enrichment Weekend at Queens Family. My greatest response is that I never cry for such a long period of time in the conferences for the last 5 years.
The combinations of the titles for each day and the main theme of the year, "The MISSION," opened my eyes in a deeper, better perspective and a more clearly convicted way. The conference helped me to see how much I should work on my personal specific issues to change for God's mission. By faith... without expecting any results the way I personally view it or desire it. I am cut by the merciful God and totally repented to my children and to my own families. I feel so much freedom and ready to work for whatever it takes to accomplish "the Mission" that I have been assigned and. Its been a great and amazing time having the chance to meet the Kim family.

I was moved beyond anything I could possibly put into words. I am eternally grateful for the Mission Weekend as it was, thus far, the greatest turning point in my spiritual journey. The tears just keep falling from my eyes every time I stop and think of what I NOW know in comparison to what I thought I knew, and even more, what I will know in God’s time. Thank you my brother and sisters in Christ, words will NEVER be enough to express my gratitude.

I would like to thank everyone who put this weekend together. I am grateful for all that I have learned from "The Mission." A few things that God has taught me through the Kim's are 1) to be more compassionate for those around me 2) God battles for my heart and 3) to remember my worth before God.
I understand how Jesus' compassion leads me to repentance. In the same way, I have to remain compassionate. Through His compassion, God battles for my heart. He never stops searching my heart, and seeking me out. Due to God's persistence, I was to be transformed, because he enabled me to have a heart of a learner, so that I could draw near to him.
Also, I can't lose sight of God in my daily walk. Although I don't know where God is going to take me, I can't lose focus of his vision for my life. Finally, I have to remember my worth before God and to not lose sight of his plans for me (Jeremiah 29:11-13). In order for me to do that, I have to remain grateful for all he has done in my life over the past 7 years. The one way that I could remain grateful is, as Frank put it, "to break down the fences in my life.” God is guiding me and I have to allow him to guide me where he desires me to go. Thank you once again for an incredible weekend.

Thank you, Frank, Erica, and Miyoko for such an inspiring weekend. I was moved deeply by everything that was shared the entire weekend. Thank you, thank you, and thank you. As a church we needed to hear that in the busyness of the church, we need to keep caring, especially for the lost.

I am a teen, and I just wanted to give a huge thanks to Miyoka Kim for taking her time to speak to the teens. I really enjoyed everything you taught us especially how us teens tend to always want to be all about the world. It's so true and I'm extremely grateful for your weekend that you spent with Queens. Please come back soon with your parents. I'm also thankful for their time. I love you guys. You’re awesome.

This was definitely a very "enriching weekend " for me. Many thanks to Scott and Dionne for inviting just the right couple to deliver the Mission to us in such a personal and yet inspiring way. I am grateful to Frank, Erica, and Miyoko for all they have shared this weekend. I was brought to tears by your personal testimonies in how God has worked in your lives. Thanks for sharing from the heart!
What I learned on Friday was how much Jesus cared. I was amazed when you asked us to underline how may times Jesus was "busy" (Matt. Chapters 8-9) and yet always stopped to care for people. So many times I can be busy doing the right thing but not stop to take time to be compassionate and merciful. It is this caring that is going to help me to carry out the Mission of God. When I care like Jesus cared, it will help me to be bold and share what I have found with others. I know this is not my strength, but I have been relying on my own strength, and not the power of God. I need to spend more time in prayer to ask God for His help so that I can care enough to change my weakness!
On Saturday I was reminded of how God chooses people that are imperfect, like Rahab( Joshua 2) to carry out His plans. If God can use her, then surely I can be used by God, too I just have to decide to allow God to use me and be faithful. Finally, I couldn't wait to start reading Erica's book. I looked over the titles for each chapter and I was happy to see what this book will be covering. I can't wait for the Lord to open my eyes wider each day. Thanks to all who made this an inspiring weekend and especially to the Kim family. May God continue to bless you!

Frank and Erica truly made an impression on my family, "Our purpose is to glorify God, and our mission comes from that purpose". This defines what my mission as a christian is all about, it is to glorify God in all that I am, in my house, in my job, with my friends, and with my neighbor. We achieve this mission by following the example of our Lord Jesus Christ, his example of unconditional love, selfless, mercy, and hope. Jesus served without limits because he was the mission. Thank you so much.

I was particularly impressed and convicted at lunch with Erica when she said God speaks to women in a very special way. I have re-read some of the encounters Jesus had with women and can see how He did speak to women in a very different way when he interacted with them.

"The Mission": This past weekend was truly amazing. I feel so blessed to have gotten the opportunity to hear the Kim's share their lives, convictions, and heart. They helped us to recapture what the mission truly means in our lives. I was amazed as to how God used them for three days to really call me back to the plan that he has for my life. I really have no excuse in sharing the message of God with others. Remembering that God has called me, like he called Rahab, is truly encouraging. He uses imperfect people to carry out his mission. I am called to trust God more deeply with all areas of my life. This is a true test of my faith. God has a dream for me and I need to remember each day to not be afraid.
Lastly, I had the opportunity to spend some time with Miyoko and a few other sisters at the end of the weekend. What a refreshing time it was. I am thankful for how God answers prayers. As I served and put compassion into practice, my soul was truly encouraged. Heartfelt thanks to the Kim family, the Davis', and everyone who played a part in putting the enrichment weekend together.
