Women’s Service Team Update

Written by  Robin Williams -- Los Angeles Monday, 20 June 2011 08:20

The Women’s Service Team is always always moving forward. We have been working together for four years planning women’s conferences, creating and building Women Today, writing articles and beginning study and research for a paper on the women’s role.

This year we are scheduled to choose another chairwoman. However, we are presenting the Delegates with a proposal for our committee to include the wives of the Evangelists committee and Elders committee, which may affect how we choose our chairwoman. We will share more after the Delegates consider our proposal in November.

All of the women on our committee are working very hard in their different parts of the world. We are so grateful for each of them. Here are some of their recent activities:

Gloria Baird is traveling with her husband to different cities around the world helping churches by teaching marriage and parenting classes and helping raise up elders and elders’ wives. They celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this year! Tammy Fleming is sharing her quiet times with sisters through email and on Women Today. Joyce Arthur is busy working with other sisters to plan a program for the women participating in a European conference in November and for the American conference in October. Jeanie Shaw continues to do excellent work as Editor for Women Today and with all of her other women's ministry. Karen Louis and her husband continue to train others with their programs "I Choose Us" and "Good Enough Parenting" as well as leading the growth of the churches in Southesast Asia.

Anne-Brigitte Taliaferro is beginning the plans for our women’s program for the 8-10,000 who attend the World Discipleship Summit next year. Seventy-one women attended our first Women Leaders’ Retreat for sisters in the Southwest United States in San Diego, California with the theme: "Influenced by God." Nadine and Mark Templer adopted another little girl this year (see article on Women Today). Several of us will be meeting to complete the paper we are writing on the women’s role according to God’s Word and how to apply it in the 21st century.

Please keep us in your prayers as we move toward more unity and growth in all of our women’s ministries around the world.
