New Life Celebrated Across Regions in Boston Church

Saturday, 06 April 2013 07:54
MBCoC 1elting snow in Boston always gives promise to a vibrant Spring where we are able to witness God’s power unfold as new life begins again. Even more amazing than the budding of flowers and the return of green leaves to the trees, are human lives made new. As disciples of Jesus, our new lives are only possible because of our risen Savior. As we celebrated our risen Lord together this past Sunday, it was clear that God is currently resurrecting lives, dreams and visions within the Boston Church of Christ.
In the Northern Worship Center, we rejoiced with the angels as three souls made their decision to follow Jesus as they were baptized into Christ. We also thrilled to the testimony of a sister as she was restored into the fellowship, after many years of wandering from God and his church.

BCoC 3One of our campus ministers, Anselm Beach, along with twelve campus students in the Northern Worship Center, powerfully reenacted many of the words and actions of Jesus and the twelve as they participated in the “last supper.” As Jesus washed their feet, broke bread with them, gave them the cup to drink, and told them that one of their own would betray him. It was not only a reminder of Jesus’ love and power, but also how the apostles were people just like us. After moving our hearts with their interactions, the “eleven remaining apostles,” still in costume and character, served the congregation communion.

Two highlights from our Spanish Worship Center’s Easter service were the Rodriguez and the Lopez families. Six brothers and sisters from the Lopez family, who are disciples in the Spanish Region, shared what God has done in their lives. They shared how God has transformed their family one after the other. Last year their father passed away in Guatemala. It has been encouraging and inspiring to see that their response to their loss has bBCoC 5een to give more of themselves to God and to the fellowship.

Hilario Rodriguez, one of our elders, shared at the communion with one of his brothers and one of his brother's in law. They were representing the over twenty members of their family who have become disciples. Hearing them share helped us all gain a vision of what God can do in our lives and in our families.

In the Southern Worship Center, where over 1,000 were in attendance, many new Bible studies were set up with some of the over 300 guests who were visiting. During the service, in another part of the facility over a hundred teenagers attended a teen lead service.

Downtown, with over 600 in attendance, George Doolittle, moved the congregation as he shared how the cross and resurrection of Jesus provides the answers he needs to all of his suffering. George was recently restored and is suffering from advanced Parkinson’s disease.

In the Metro Worship Center, another campus student made Jesus Lord as he was baptized into Christ.  BCoC 6

This newly begun “western” campus ministry, going from 0-9 disciples in a year, is truly coming to life.

We rejoice as God continues to change our lives and inspires us to dream even greater things.

2 Cor. 5:14-18

For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! [18] All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:

John 14:12

I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
