It was a great day in the Boston Church of Christ and in the Kingdom as the first Spanish Elders were appointed. Sammy Rodriguez and Hilario Rodriguez were appointed as Elders by Hector Morales at our recent all church Christmas service.

Sammy's wife, Alicia along with their children, Alice and Jessica, stood proudly by his side as Hector commended Sammy to the church and officially appointed him as an elder. This had been a dream of Sammy's ever since he had come into the church and he has provided shepherding of the flock in the Spanish ministry for many years before being given this honor.
Then it was Hilario's turn as his wife, Lucia and their children, Miriam, Jonathan and Katherine, stood at his side as their father was given the charge to be a shepherd of the flock by Hector.
These brothers have been commended by the Spanish region and their service and lives have become examples for many not only in the Spanish region but the church as a whole. Hilario has seen more than 10 of his relatives become Christians since making Jesus Lord and has inspired many with family members of their own. Let us rejoice with God as more men step up to serve in the great role of Elder. But for those of Hispanic decent this was a special day, as these men were of the first to be appointed as elders in our family of churches. We look forward to the new year where other men as well will be appointed Elders!
