DFW 25 YearsAs we stop to remember what God has done, we are so grateful for the sacrifices disciples have made over the years to make this possible. They have sacrificed their time, money and security as they've gone anywhere and done anything to advance the Kingdom. It is with deep gratitude to God and all the Christians who have devoted themselves to Jesus, that we commemorate the anniversary of the church.

On August 16, the Dallas Fort Worth church will host a celebration of the past 25 years. The church began in 1990 with a team of less than 20 disciples sent from the Boston Church and led by Nick and Debbie Young. They joined a group of about 150 people who were waiting for the team and wanted to be part of a totally committed church.

That first year God worked miracles and so many people became Christians that the church was able to split into four groups. One group remained in Dallas while teams left for San Antonio, Houston and New Orleans to plant churches in those cities. Those were just the first of more than a dozen churches the DFW Church would go on to plant.

Our mission has not been easy, but God has revealed his will for the church in many different ways and brought about victories even when we were unsure of where he was taking us. We now have about 1,100 members with an average Sunday attendance of about 1,700. Those numbers include a vibrant marrieds ministry, more than 100 college students, a growing singles ministry and a fruitful youth and family ministry where families are brought together as teenagers choose to live for Christ.

Over the next 25 years, our prayer is that God continues to use us to reach the lost, help the poor and send out disciples to encourage other churches. He has given us an abundance of resources that he can use to bless the world. Our goal is that the DFW Church continues to be a giving church in every way possible so God can bring about even greater things in the future.
